Devine Group is eleven months into a twenty-four-month project that sees the established construction company preserve and restore one of New Malden High Street’s landmark public houses, The Fountain, alongside a significant site redevelopment.
The Fountain Public House, originally built circa 1955, closed its doors in June 2019 following approval of significant development of the site. Devine Group were appointed to undertake this redevelopment which commenced in January 2021 and is scheduled for completion in December 2022.
The site was cleared and prepared for redevelopment back in January.
This exciting redevelopment will add a variety of new amenities to New Malden High Street through the construction of two multi-storey buildings that will be home to brand new retail units, restaurant space and a coffee shop (A1 and A3 commercial space) on the ground floor and 45 one, two and three-bedroom apartments (C3 use).
The brand new apartments will add modern, convenient living to this popular high street. In addition, the apartments will benefit from on-site parking, balconies, landscaped gardens and a roof terrace. Thirty of the apartments will be available for private sale in 2022, with 15 being allocated to affordable housing.
The Fountain Public Hosue has not been forgotten despite creating brand new buildings, with the original main streetside facade being restored and retained. Additionally, Devine Group has worked hard to maintain the original crests from the dome roof of the public house, which will take pride in place in the communal lobby areas where they will be used as pictures.

The development is scheduled for completion in December 2022.
