Client: Persimmon/Taylor Wimpey

Value: £38.50million

At J Devine Civil Engineering, we are driven by our commitment to delivering excellence in every project we undertake. Our partnership with Persimmon/Taylor Wimpey on the Crawley Infrastructure project is a prime example of our dedication to achieving outstanding results. Valued at £38.50 million, this ambitious endeavour was centred around the creation of Forgewood, a new neighbourhood located to the North-East of Crawley Town. Upon completion in 2026, Forgewood will provide homes for 1900 families, complete with a primary school, a community centre, office spaces, industrial zones, retail areas, parkland, and outdoor amenity areas.

The Forgewood project is more than just housing; it represents a vision for the future. It aims to create a vibrant and self-sustaining community, offering residents not just homes but an entire neighbourhood. With a comprehensive scope that includes the construction of primary amenities such as a school, a community centre, offices, industrial spaces, and retail areas, Forgewood is designed to meet the diverse needs of its future residents. The incorporation of parkland and outdoor amenity areas adds to the overall quality of life, promoting a sense of well-being and connection within the community.

Our role in the Crawley Infrastructure project involved a multifaceted approach to meet the diverse requirements of the development. We executed extensive Section 278 (S278) works in key locations, including Steers Lane, Balcombe Road, and Radford Road. These works encompassed the construction of 51,000 square meters of roads, ensuring seamless connectivity and accessibility within the neighbourhood. Additionally, we meticulously designed and installed foul and surface water sewers, along with pump stations, to manage drainage efficiently. Our expertise in headings, tunnelling, and boring was put to use to ensure the necessary infrastructure was in place.
