Billingshurst Bypass & Infrastructure

Client: Persimmon/Bellway/Devine Homes

Value: £11million

Devine Civil Engineering took on a significant project in Billingshurst, focusing on the construction of the Billingshurst Bypass and associated infrastructure. The project served multiple clients, including Persimmon, Bellway, and Devine Homes, with a total estimated value of £11 million. The central goal of this endeavour was the creation of a new link road designed to bypass Billingshurst Town Centre effectively.

The core component of this infrastructure project was the construction of a 1.1-kilometre spine road, strategically linking the A272 to the A29 on the eastern side of the town. This crucial road network aimed to alleviate traffic congestion within the town centre, providing a smoother flow of traffic and enhancing connectivity for residents and commuters alike. The construction of this road required precision and careful planning to meet the project's objectives.

Moreover, the project included S278 Works, which encompassed various road-related improvements and enhancements. This comprehensive approach aimed to ensure that the new road integration with the existing road network was seamless and efficient. These works played a crucial role in creating a well-integrated and functional transportation system for the Billingshurst area.

Additionally, the scope of the project extended to the construction of approximately 18,000 square meters of road infrastructure, showcasing J Devine Civil Engineering's expertise in large-scale road construction projects. The company's commitment to quality and safety was evident in every aspect of the road's construction, from its foundations to the final surface finish.
Furthermore, the project addressed vital drainage needs, including the establishment of foul and surface water drainage systems and the installation of pump stations. These systems were designed to manage and control water flow effectively, preventing flooding and ensuring the long-term durability of the road infrastructure.

Lastly, the Billingshurst Bypass and Infrastructure project contributed to the creation of public open spaces, enhancing the quality of life for the community. These open spaces provided recreational areas for residents and added to the overall attractiveness of the region.
